SYRACUSE — Former Syracuse University assistant basketball coach Bernie Fine, accused of fondling two ball boys in the 1990s, cannot be prosecuted under New York state law, despite strong evidence against him.

The DA said the statute of limitations had passed but the evidence would be handed to the feds, who would try to determine if there were other victims.

Fine has denied the allegations.
