In a show of clean (and flossed) government in action, the House passed a measure to let dentists act as first-responders in emergencies, both terror attacks and natural disasters.
And for once, trying to get the House to pass a bill to help first-responders wasn’t like pulling teeth.
The Dental Emergency Responder Act, co-authored by Rep. Edolphus Towns (D-Brooklyn), passed easily yesterday under a procedure called suspension of the rules.
The bill aims to boost the number of responders who can help in an emergency by adding dentists, who also get standard medical training, and lets states incorporate them into their disaster-response plans.
