BELLMORE — Authorities say a fuel tanker truck overturned and burst into flames on Long Island, injuring two people.
Nassau County police say the truck driver and the driver of a car that rear-ended the tanker were taken to the hospital following the accident late Tuesday in Bellmore. Both suffered nonlife-threatening injuries.
The fire was brought under control early Wednesday. At one point the flames were 20 feet high.
Sunrise Highway is closed in both directions in the area of the accident.
Authorities say the blaze damaged two homes and a Harley-Davidson dealership.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
