Tax clash in Weiner race
Republican congressional candidate Bob Turner came out yesterday against President Obama’s proposal to extend the payroll-tax cut — saying it would recklessly jeopardize Social Security.
“Taking more money out of an already weakened Social Security would be a bad mistake,” said Turner, who is running for the Queens-Brooklyn seat vacated by Anthony Weiner.
His opponent, Democratic Assemblyman David Weprin, blasted his stance.
It would hurt the middle class while protecting “tax cuts for millionaires,” said a Weprin spokeswoman.
