A group of “Tax the rich” protesters gathered outside the Met Gala on Monday night, temporarily blocking a van carrying Paris Hilton as they railed against the lavish star-studded event.

The ruckus outside the Metropolitan Museum of Art was well-documented on social media and resulted in at least one protester being arrested.

The event inside featured Jared Leto in a catsuit as celebrities paid tribute to legendary and problematic designer Karl Lagerfeld.

According to a tweet from Sarah Lynch, a staff reporter for Inc., the demonstrators at one point briefly prevented a black van that was occupied by Hilton from making its way to the gala.

Another Twitter post shows one demonstrator being apprehended in the street by a member of the NYPD.

The department did not immediately provide information on the arrest.
