The Tea Party has a new darling: Gov. Cuomo.

The Tea Party Patriots yesterday praised Cuomo for slashing spending and holding the line on taxes in the just-approved state budget.

“It’s interesting to see a Democrat make serious budget cuts. Cuomo sounds like a Tea Party member when you hear him talk,” Mark Meckler, co-founder of Tea Party Patriots, told The Post editorial board.

“You could see the Tea Party influence in his behavior.”

Cuomo persuaded the Legislature to close a $10 billion gap through budget trims and no major tax hikes.
