Teach busted in dog abuse
A cruel Queens special education teacher neglected her sick, 13-year-old dog so badly it had to be put down, authorities said.
The ASPCA arrested 47-year-old Anna Herra, a teacher at P.S. 16, in Elmhurst, and charged her with misdemeanor animal cruelty for allegedly failing to get her pup, Julie, to a vet.
The dog’s fur got so matted, the poor pup couldn’t even get off the floor, sources said.
When they took the dog in for medical treatment, a vet said Julie had been in severe pain for at least many months and they put her to sleep.
ASPCA spokesman Joseph Pentangelo said the sick dog suffered from many health problems, including bladder disease.
