They’re not buying the Department of Education’s deal at the Washington Heights rubber room, according to denizen Tom Forbes.

“A lot of us don’t trust the union and are waiting to see what this agreement is,” said Forbes, 47, a social-studies teacher who said he’s been in the reassignment center at the George Washington HS campus for about two months.

“Does administrative duty mean waiting in an office to alphabetize?” he added. “If it’s teacher’s work, I’m OK with that. But they’ll give us boring and mundane tasks. They want to break you down.”

Forbes says he was yanked from Harlem Renaissance HS after intervening in a fight between two girls. He said a union rep yesterday came to deliver the news of the end of rubber rooms.

“It seemed like he was anticipating an applause of the announcement, but most of us sat there quietly waiting for information,” said Forbes, a 14-year veteran.

Officials could not confirm the reason for Forbes’ reassignment.

“It would be great if they gave us real work,” said Forbes.
