A hometown soldier killed in Afghanistan was honored yesterday in a Chinatown memorial service.

Dozens of mourners poured into the Wah Wing Sang funeral home to pay their respects to Army Pvt. Danny Chen, a 19-year-old native New Yorker who died last week in Kandahar Province.

Army officials have not released the circumstances of Chen’s death last Monday and were investigating.

“The immediate family is not doing well,” a relative said yesterday outside the service. “They are too distraught to speak right now.”

Chen’s funeral is set for Thursday after his body is returned to New York.

“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I send my profound sympathies to the family, friends, and fellow soldiers of Private Chen,” Gov. Cuomo said in a statement.

“We will remember the service and mourn the loss of this New York soldier.”

Raised in Chinatown, Chen had been assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 21st Infantry Regiment of the 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team of the 25th Infantry Division and had been stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
