The teen arrested and jailed for murdering her family’s pet hamster Sweetie is off the hook — the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office is dropping charges against her in the death of the beloved rodent, authorities said today.
A DA spokesman said they are closing the case because there were too many “inconsistent statements from the witnesses.”
Monique Davis, 19, was accused of killing the pet in a fit of rage at the family home in Bushwick.
She allegedly tossed it to the floor, then picked up the injured little critter and slammed it on the ground a second time. The second blow killed it, authorities said.
Her nine year-old brother snitched on her to the ASPCA, using the agency’s help line.
She was charged with felony and misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.
