A Manhattan judge on Wednesday gave the teenage driver who fatally struck 4-year-old Ariel Russo on the Upper West Side in 2013 one more day to decide whether to accept three to nine years in prison in a plea bargain or go to trial.
Franklin Reyes’ mom, Lilia, gave a hint at what the 18-year-old’s decision might be when she shouted, “It’s not fair!” after Justice Gregory Carro mentioned the offer.
As she was dragged from court, Ariel’s family and friends responded with their own shouts. “He killed a kid!” one yelled.
