A teen has been indicted in the stray-bullet killing of a US Navy veteran who was working on the grounds of the Astoria Houses, officials said.

Jerald Bethea, 19, pleaded not guilty Tuesday in Queens Supreme Court to second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon charges for the broad-daylight, April 9 shooting of Darrian Ramdial, 25.

“An innocent man needlessly lost his life when this defendant allegedly fired an illegal gun,” said Queens DA Melinda Katz in a statement. “Now a man who was simply doing his job is being mourned by his loved ones.”

Bethea allegedly opened fire on a rival at about 3 p.m. but a stray bullet hit Ramdial, an HVAC specialist, in the torso, officials said. He died six days later at the hospital.
