A teenager saved the life of a 2-year-old girl who had fallen from a third-floor apartment window in Brooklyn Wednesday night.
Ashley Giron sprang into action when she saw little Nygeana Civil plummet from the window in Sunset Park about 7 p.m., and administered CPR.
First responders give medical attention to the 2-year-old girl.William C. Lopez“At first, the baby wasn’t breathing, but I knew I had to give her the standard CPR,” said Giron, 18. “Suddenly, the child started breathing. I was just shaken up.”
Nygeana, who sustained serious injuries, somehow managed to crawl past a window guard at the 44th Street building.
“I was watering my plants when I saw the little girl in the window,” said Marilyn Zelez. “I went inside and a few minutes later, I heard the mother screaming.”
EMTs took Nygeana to Lutheran Hospital. She was in stable condition.
“It just seems like a horrible tragedy,” a police source said. “It could have been a lot worse.”
