NEWARK, Del. — Police in Delaware say a New Jersey man robbed two teens at gunpoint at a Newark-area shopping center and ended up with a broken arm.

New Castle County Police say 30-year-old Michael Wells of Penns Grove, N.J., approached the teens after they visited an ATM at the Brookside Shopping Center on Sunday evening, pointed a gun at them and demanded cash.

When Wells took some cash, police say one teen grabbed Wells’ gun and a struggle ensued. The other teen grabbed a baseball bat and hit Wells as they struggled over what police say turned out to be a BB gun.

Police spokesman Cpl. Trinidad Navarro says Wells suffered a broken arm and cuts to one teen’s face required stitches.

Wells is charged with first-degree robbery, attempted robbery and drug offenses.
