Rainbow Transit driver Albert Mazzarelli was investigated for inappropriately exchanging text messages with one of the special-education students on his bus.

A probe by the Special Commissioner of Investigation found that he had even sent messages while he was driving — though typically while stopped at red lights, according to another student.

“Absolutely no way. I would not drive on my phone or text while my vehicle was in motion,” said Mazzarelli, who was decertified last year.

He said he only texted with the 15-year-old — who didn’t communicate verbally — to make sure the matron wasn’t mistreating her.
