Police dramatically arrested the singer D4vd in connection with the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas — but the case may have a major potential issue, according to TMZ.

The Los Angeles Police Department arrested D4vd late Thursday and said the case would be presented to prosecutors with the Los Angeles District Attorney on Monday.

But the DA’s Office has already had the case for months, TMZ reported.

Deputy District Attorney Beth Silverman had reportedly been presenting evidence to an LA County grand jury since November, in what appeared to be an effort to secure an indictment related to Rivas’ death, TMZ reported.

If the grand jury heard the evidence but did not vote to indict, that could raise questions about the strength of the prosecution’s case, according to the outlet.

Rivas’ cause of death may ultimately become a key issue at trial. The Medical Examiner had difficultly determining the cause due to the condition of her body, after it was found dismembered in the back of a Tesla belonging to D4vd back in September.

It remains unclear whether the cause was homicide or undetermined, according to TMZ.

D4vd’s lawyers have said that the singer did not murder Rivas or cause her death. But he may have known how she ended up in his car, TMZ reported. Even if that were the case, such knowledge alone would not prove he committed murder.
