There are now more than 30,000 Uber drivers working in New York City — a number that has shot up by 15 percent in just the past four months.
The company’s ranks have surged since Mayor de Blasio in July announced he was no longer pushing to cap the number of Uber drivers in the Big Apple.
The drivers are getting paid better than ever, too. UberX drivers now average nearly $40 an hour, up 6.3 percent from the same period last year, when they earned $36.96 an hour. And that’s way up from 2013, when they earned just $27.70.
The salary increase is due to the increased demand for the service, said Uber officials.
