A thief snatched so much nail polish from a Williamsburg salon that the place couldn’t open for business, sources said Tuesday.
The bandit busted through a back window of Nails and Spa 4U on Leonard Street near Powers Street and swiped 400 bottles of special polish — used for high-end “gel” manicures — at 9 p.m. Feb. 22, police sources and shop workers said.
“I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t open for the customers,” said a salon worker named Nirean whose cousin owns the place.
“They took the expensive polish, OPI GelColor shellacs and Essie. They took 200 colors or more,” she fumed.
The salon — which performs the long-lasting manicures under a quick-drying ultraviolet light — was forced to close for roughly one day because it was lacking the fancy lacquer, the worker said.
The thief broke a latch on the window, rummaged through boxes and snatched a Sony DVD player full of surveillance footage, she said. A laundry bag was also missing from the shop.
The merchandise was worth $1,300 wholesale, cops said.
Anyone with information should contact the NYPD, which is trying to catch the polish crook red-handed.
