A Queens teen who had been clinging to life for days after a fire killed his mom and 7-year-old sister over the weekend has died, authorities said Thursday.
Gilbert Diaz, 19, died Tuesday after spending several days in the hospital for severe burns following Sunday’s fire — which was sparked when a damaged air conditioner cord tore through a house on 117th Street in Richmond Hill, according to authorities and police sources.
The teen was the eldest son of 51-year-old single mother Silvia Umana, who died Sunday along with her 7-year-old daughter, Guadalupe Perez, according to authorities.
Umana’s other son, who is 15, was also injured in the fire but his injuries were not as serious.
