The New York Public Library will give away 25,000 copies of a new paperback in subway stations, parks and other public places, starting next Thursday.

The book features a diverse group of celebrities — including Stephen Colbert, the Harlem Globetrotters and Yoko Ono — posing with or discussing their favorite artifacts at the Fifth Avenue building, as part of the library’s centenary celebration.

A note inserted in the book will ask readers to leave it in another part of the city for someone else to enjoy.
