How do you get to Carnegie Hall? The Times Square shuttle, apparently.
The best-sounding buskers in the city stunned straphangers on the S line yesterday, when five members of Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (pictured) put on an impromptu performance as an prelude to their Carnegie performance.
“I’ve played on a flatbed truck before, but never in a subway,” said horn player Jaap van der Vliet.
The subway’s first lurch briefly startled the musicians, but they smoothly resumed composer Samuel Scheidt’s “Three Canzonas.”
The orchestra — which has 120 musicians at full strength — was recognized as the best in the world in 2008.
