ALBANY — Lame-duck city Comptroller Bill Thompson would trounce rookie Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in a potential primary battle next year, according to a new poll.
Thompson leads Gillibrand 41-28 percent among Democrats, the Quinnipiac University survey found.
The results differed from a Siena survey also released yesterday, which had Gillibrand leading the Democratic field and beating Thompson 32-23 percent.
The Quinnipiac poll was also the second to show Gov. Paterson’s approval rating has risen, to 40 percent, after he launched an expensive ad blitz and budget fight.
