Thompson surges in poll
If Bill Thompson can get into the Democratic runoff for mayor, he could be the next occupant of City Hall, according to a new poll.
The Quinnipiac University poll said the former comptroller would zip past his nearest rivals, City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, by 51 to 42 percent, and former Rep. Anthony Weiner, 52 to 41.
But Thompson is now running third among likely voters.
Weiner leads with 26 percent, Quinn is at 22 percent and Thompson is a closeby 20 percent.
