Flames shot through the roof of a home in the Crotona Park East section of The Bronx early Tuesday in a blaze that left 16 people homeless and three firefighters injured, authorities said.
The three-alarm blaze broke out in a garage at 1538 Bryant Ave. at about 4 a.m. and quickly spread to residential buildings on either side, according to the FDNY.
One firefighter was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital for smoke inhalation and two others suffered minor injuries.
The fire, which was brought under control by 6:03 a.m., did not appear suspicious, although the cause remained under investigation, authorities said.
