Embattled author Greg Mortenson has been hospitalized and is scheduled to have surgery to repair a hole in his heart.

It’s the latest setback for the once-celebrated co-author of “Three Cups of Tea,” who is accused of literary fraud and may owe $23 million in back taxes and penalties tied to “excess benefits” from his charity.

Mortenson has denied the allegations.
