Three yellow taxis collided near the entrance to the Holland Tunnel Saturday night, causing three injuries, according to officials and one of the cab drivers.
The accident happened at about 8:45 p.m. at the corner of Varick and Canal streets when one taxi with defective breaks rammed into two others, according to one of the drivers, Michael Bonnaza, 34, who was not injured.
A passenger in the cab that apparently sparked the accident, a woman who is about 30 years old, appeared to be seriously injured, Bonnaza said.
“I was in front [and] then the other taxi hit me in the side,” Bonnaza said. “Then I got out and saw the lady on the floor. [Her] boyfriend was yelling ‘lady, lady, lady,’ and she was not responding.”
