Three men died when they drove a stolen car into a lake fleeing cops on Long Island Sunday evening, according to state police.

A patrol car spotted the trio speeding down Northern State Parkway just before 6 p.m. in a 2010 Honda, authorities said. They gave chase when their license plate reader warned them the vehicle had been stolen from Hempstead on Friday.

The pursuit ended in a spectacular wreck when the fleeing men ploughed through a fence and into a pond near IU Willets Road and Searington Road in Albertson. Emergency responders rushed them to Winthrop University Hospital, where all three succumbed their injuries.

The names of the men were witheld pending notification of their families.
