A series of accidents caused a trio of fires at Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, the FDNY said Saturday.

“Per #FDNY Fire Marshals: Causes of 3 separate fires on 5/24 at 111 E 210 St. in the #Bronx were accidental,” according to a tweet posted to the FDNY’s Twitter account. “Careless discard of a cigarette, motor, and electrical-oil filtering pump.”

FDNY arrived at the hospital on East 210th Street in Norwood shortly after 7 p.m. Friday for a report of a fire in the maintenance room. When they got to the scene, they also discovered an unrelated car fire in the parking garage.

At the same time, someone discarded a cigarette in a planter in front of the building, causing the planter to go up in flames, an FDNY spokesman said. The fire was quickly treated.

No one was injured in either fire.
