The New York Post has become The New York Pope.
The newspaper changed its name on the front cover of its Friday edition in honor of Pope Francis’ first-ever visit to New York. The pope, who arrived in Manhattan on Thursday afternoon, will spend Friday at events in New York City, ending with a celebration of Mass at Madison Square Garden at 6 p.m.
Friday’s forecast, The Post’s cover noted, is to be a “divine” 78 degrees.

“New York Pope” began trending on social media Friday morning, as people reacted to the newspaper’s one-day-only name change.
A user named Potatosam, under the handle @samdrawsalot, tweeted: “Instead of New York Post for today they made it the New York Pope and it made my day that’s the silliest thing.”
And Kai MacMahon, @kaimac, wrote: “New York Pope is trending. I guess he’s ours now.”
Pope Francis will travel to Philadelphia on Saturday morning.
