A New Jersey toddler was mauled to death by a vicious pit bull inside her family’s home on Tuesday afternoon, cops said.

The 18-month-old girl wandered away from a teenager responsible for watching her when the blood-thirsty dog went after her inside the Second Avenue home in Newark, according to officials and reports.

The tot was rushed to University Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries after suffering “horrific and serious injuries from an apparent canine attack,” the Essex County prosecutor’s office said.

“They tell me today that these people have a 18-month-old baby that was ripped apart by a pit bull or ferocious dog,” neighbor Kawhon Jahyne told the station.

“That’s the most horrific thing that can happen to anyone on earth.”

A spokesperson for the Essex County prosecutor said the office has an open investigation into the attack.
