A top city official was allowed to quietly resign when his assistant accused him of “frequently” groping and sexually harassing her, officials confirmed.

The woman is now suing the Department of Social Services, claiming higher-ups came after her when she reported the abuse, according to a lawsuit filed in Bronx Supreme Court last month.

Michael Laidlaw was the head of human resources at the agency in 2016 when he grabbed his special assistant’s buttocks and harassed her so aggressively that she felt compelled to quit, according to city investigators.

The victim, Jacqueline Torres, a retired Army major from the Bronx, filed an Equal Employment Opportunity complaint that was substantiated by city investigators, a Social Services spokesperson confirmed.

The city allowed Laidlaw to resign “under threat of termination,” the spokesperson told The Post.
