A beloved doorman at the legendary Greenwich Village rock club, The Bitter End, died after he fell down stairs at the venue, friends and family said.

Kenneth Kelly, 56, was at the end of his shift Aug. 6 at 4:30 a.m. inside of the Bleecker Street venue when he tripped and fell, suffering a fatal head injury, according to one of the bar’s owners.

Known as the “mayor of Bleecker Street,” Kelly was the club’s doorman for 26 years.
