California first partner Jennifer Siebel Newsom delved into her childhood and revealed the tragic story behind her beloved pet chicken in a gushing, softball interview with Marie Claire.

The piece titled, “Is Jennifer Siebel Newsom the Most Underestimated Woman in American Politics?” covered Newsom’s struggles as a filmmaker and her marriage to Gov. Gavin Newsom ahead of his anticipated run for president in 2028.

But it also touched on tragedy that struck Newsom as a young girl — and inspired the name behind her current chicken.

Newsom was about to turn seven when her sister, Stacey, died in a golf cart accident during a family trip to Hawaii.

“I think my mom and dad were in so much pain,” she told the magazine, “and they couldn’t be there for me.”

To help her deal with the grief and pain of losing a sister, her parents got her a special gift, a white pony named Sugar and a trainer who she said taught her to jump hay bales and to “be fearless.”

In honor of that childhood pony that got her through tough times, Newsom named her fluffy white chicken Sugar, too.

Throughout the article, there’s also several pictures of Newsom’s wife dressed up in a black coat holding her pet chicken and in one outside the chicken coop looking lovingly at her little furry pet.

The glowing piece on Newsom follows a recent cringeworthy Vogue spread about the Democrat governor that is short on answers and long on admiration.

The move by the liberal fashion magazines is similar to 2024 after former President Joe Biden dropped out of the race and then-Vice President Kamala Harris was anointed the rightful heir to the throne.

In just a matter of days, the American public was inundated with puff pieces from the likes of Vogue and Time magazine, inflating her experience and suggesting she was the perfect choice for the country after four disastrous years of Biden.
