Tragic dealer a golden target
Neighbors of a Brooklyn coin-store owner savagely beaten to death said yesterday they worried about him carrying around so much gold.
“I would tell him, ‘The business you’re in, gold and money, you’re in danger,’ ” said Norman Pollisky of Steve Halfon, 61.
Halfon, who owned Liberty Coin Co. in Gravesend, was beaten by five thugs at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday outside his store. Police sources said the thieves made off with a suitcase that may have held cash.
