The Roosevelt Island tram, closed for a massive $25 million replacement since the end of February, will reopen on Nov. 30.

Island residents were happy to again have their subway alternative.

“The subway is dirty! The tram is very nice, and I like the view,” said Lourdes Arnaiz, 42, who is looking forward to his regular scenic commute.

The F-train serves the island, but like Arnaiz most residents prefer the tram’s above-ground trip with its breathtaking views of Manhattan.

Delays caused by inclement weather and technical problems plagued the refurbishment project. The tram had been due to reopen in August.

On April 18, 2006, mechanical problems halted two trams over the East River for seven hours, leaving 69 commuters trapped into the wee hours of the following morning.
