A Queens newborn found stuffed in a garbage can at Elmhurst Hospital died yesterday, and her mom is being charged with assault, Queens prosecutors said yesterday.

Dawa Lama, 23, of Woodside, gave birth to the girl on May 10, authorities said.

The tot was found in the trash later that day and taken to Long Island Jewish Hospital in critical condition.

The case will be reviewed by a grand jury for possible murder charges.
