A car carrier truck hauling at least three autos slammed into a scaffold Friday afternoon in Midtown, sending a pedestrian to the hospital, authorities said.
The truck apparently struck a yellow cab, then redirected into the overhang of the scaffolding on East 42nd Street near Third Avenue just before 5:30 p.m., said officials from the FDNY and Office of Emergency Management.
Debris rained down from the scaffolding, and a nearby pedestrian was hurt, sources said.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital with minor injuries.
A crew from the Department of Buildings is en route to the scene to assess the structural integrity of the scaffolding.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
