Donald Trump and New York state parks officials have ended a five-year impasse on building a catering hall and restaurant at Jones Beach.
The developer will invest more than $24 million to build the facility in Wantagh, LI. It will include a restaurant for 400 and catering areas that could accommodate up to 1,250 guests. No state funding is involved. He will be given a 40-year lease.
The agreement also settles several lawsuits between Trump and the state.
A key to the deal centers on a basement Trump had wanted to build. The state balked because it would have been in a flood zone.
The facility will be built at the site of the former Boardwalk Restaurant in the Central Mall.
