City and state voters didn’t take advantage of New York’s newly enacted early voting law, tallies show.
A measly 1.3 percent — or 60,110 — of the city’s 4.7 million registered voters cast early ballots from Oct. 26 through Nov. 3 ahead of Tuesday’s election.
Statewide the numbers weren’t much better as just 2 percent — or 256,000 people — voted early.
The early voter period expired on Sunday — meaning those who missed out will have to vote the old fashioned way at their normal polling site on Election Day.
The low turnout could be attributed to what’s considered a quiet election year ahead of the 2020 presidential contest.
The most notable races in the city are those for public advocate and the Queens district attorney.
