New York’s gin war has ended.

Two competing firms that produce boutique gin – Breuckelen Distilling Co and The Brooklyn Distilling Co – have settled a lawsuit accusing each other of trademark infringement over their similar names.

Attorneys for the two micro-liquor producers announced the truce today before Judge Nina Gershon in Brooklyn federal court, explaining that the rivals had settled their legal differences.

Breuckelen Distilling Co was founded by Brad Estabrooke, 31, after he was laid off from a job trading bonds. His firm on 19th Street in Brooklyn is only the second distiller to open in the city since Prohibition.

Its competitor, Brooklyn Distilling Co, was started by Joe Santos, a former executive at Bicardi. The firm is headquartered in Miami and produces its gin in Warwick, Orange County, NY.

Attorneys for both firms declined to reveal the terms of the out-of-court settlement.
