Two fetuses were dumped in Manhattan, only about half a mile apart, authorities said Friday

In the first case, a 23-year-old woman who had a miscarriage told nurses at Bellevue Hospital on Thursday that she left the fetus near Amsterdam Avenue and West 131st Street in Manhattanville.

Responding officers found the tiny body inside a trash can on the block around 3:30 p.m., police said.

The second disturbing discovery was made around 11:40 p.m. Thursday by an engineer for the city’s Department of Environmental Protection, who found the body inside a sewage treatment facility on West 135th Street near 12th Avenue in Hamilton Heights.

No other details were available yet regarding the second case.

The ages and genders of both fetuses have yet to be determined. The city Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the causes of death for both unborn children.

No arrests had been made by Friday morning.
