BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Two Connecticut firefighters have died while battling a house fire in Bridgeport.

Elaine Ficarra of the Bridgeport mayor’s office says the firefighters died this afternoon while at the scene of the fire on Elmwood Avenue. Their names weren’t released.

Ficarra says other firefighters were injured and are being treated at a nearby hospital.

There’s no immediate word on what caused the fire.
