Two Brooklyn residents were seriously injured on early Sunday morning when the ceiling of their NYCHA home collapsed onto them, authorities said.
The ceiling of their bedroom at NYCHA’s Weeksville Garden on Dean Street in Crown Heights collapsed around 2:30 a.m., after it was weakened by a leak from the attic, officials said.
Both victims were taken to Kings County Hospital Center in serious, but stable condition, according to an FDNY spokeswoman.
In a statement to the Post, NYCHA spokeswoman Jasmine Blake called the incident “unacceptable,” and said the agency is working to move the family into a new home immediately.
“We must do better to provide all residents the safe, clean and connected communities they deserve,” she said.
