Two men died when a fire tore through a boarded up Bronx building known to house squatters, officials said Thursday.

The blaze started inside the Faile St. house in Hunts Point around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters arrived at what they assumed was an abandoned building, because its windows were boarded up.

But after they extinguished the fire, they found two unconscious men in the basement, officials said.

The men, who are in their 30s, were rushed to Lincoln Hospital where they were pronounced dead.

Their identities have not been released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
