A female MTA worker was randomly socked in the face by a nut in a Times Square subway station early Sunday, and her male colleague was viciously kicked in the leg as he took the guy down, cops said.

The ticket-booth clerk was walking in the A/C/E station at West 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan when she was punched in the face by the maniac around 2 a.m., cops said.

The 33-year-old victim ‘s coworker, a 47-year-old revenue clerk, then intervened to help her and tackled the man. They both held the attacker down until police arrived, cops said.

The woman received medical attention at the scene, and her coworker was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital for treatment to a bruised leg, police said.

The 35-year-old suspect was taken into custody with charges pending. He wasn’t immediately identified.

The attack occurred on the heels of another assault on a subway worker Friday, when a female transit employee was punched in the face by an alleged drunken banker who tried to get into a crew room at a Coney Island station.

“We have zero tolerance for attacks on transit workers, and two senseless assaults days apart on employees just trying to do their jobs for the public is outrageous,” said NYC Transit Chief Operating Officer Craig Cipriano in a statement.

“We are grateful that the NYPD made immediate arrests in both cases, at Coney Island and Times Square, and hope the injured workers have a speedy recovery.”
