Troopers in two New York State Police patrol cars were struck by a drunk driver —- while they were investigating another drunk driving incident.

At midnight Friday, troopers were conducting an investigation into a 2018 GMC Arcadia that struck a Department of Transportation light tower in a work zone, according to a release.

The troopers were in their respective patrol cars on the Southern State Parkway Eastbound near the exits for the Babylon, when one parked car was struck from behind by a gray 2004 Toyota Rav 4.

That first car was then launched into the other patrol car that was parked to its front.
