An attempted murder suspect was shot dead by cops after he burst out of a New Jersey hotel room and opened fire — wounding two officers, authorities said.
NYPD detectives responded to the Raritan Hotel on King Georges Post Road — where they’d tracked a man wanted for an East Harlem attempted murder — when the suspect’s girlfriend appeared, the sources said.

An NYPD cop was struck in the foot and a Woodbridge Police Department cop in the back, according to authorities and sources.
Officers then returned fire, killing the suspect, authorities said.
Video from the scene appears to show NYPD Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry coming and going from the scene in an unmarked SUV, in addition to a marked NYPD cruiser.
The suspect was wanted for a June 7 shooting that unfolded within NYCHA’S East River Houses on East 105th Street near the FDR Drive, the sources said.
In that revenge-fueled shooting, the suspect was allegedly gunning for a man who had shot him in a previous incident and was arrested – but later acquitted, according to the sources.
He missed his target and instead hit a bystander, the sources said.
The victim is now clinging to life, according to the sources.

The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office said the state Attorney General’s Office is handling the investigation.
“This incident is another reminder that our law enforcement officers risk their lives daily to keep our communities safe,” Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin said in a statement.
“Their resilience deserves our unwavering support,” the statement added. “As the state’s top law enforcement officer, I am resolute in working with our law enforcement partners to complete a thorough and complete investigation and to do everything in my power to prevent this kind of violence against law enforcement in the future.”

The first shooting took place within NYCHA’S East River Houses near FDR drive. Christopher SadowskiDetectives’ Endowment Association President Paul DiGiacomo commended the bravery of the wounded officer and his team.
“The NYPD Detective who was shot and injured in Woodbridge, NJ underscores the courage and commitment by members of the Detectives’ Endowment Association to put themselves in extreme danger to ensure violent, career criminals face justice,” DiGiacomo said in a statement. “If not for their diligent work searching for this wanted attempted murder suspect, the perpetrator could have struck again in any of our communities.”
