Two sanitation workers hauling trash from Brooklyn Technical School were injured after a chemical sprayed out of one of the garbage bags as they were crushing it this morning, authorities said.

Valentino Davis, 46, and Nigel Evelyn, 53, were loading trash into their truck at the school on Fort Green Place in downtown Brooklyn when the incident occurred around 10 a.m., authorities said.

A caustic substance squirted from one of the trash bags as the veteran workers were “cycling the hopper” on the truck, said a spokesman for the city’s Department of Sanitation.

Davis was hit with the unidentified chemical, while Evelyn inhaled some of the potentially dangerous fumes, sources said.

Both men walked themselves to nearby Brooklyn Hospital, where they were treated and released. DSNY’s Environmental Police Unit is working to identify the chemical.
