A garbage truck fatally struck a young man on the Upper East Side yesterday.

Andrew Schoonover, 31, an aspiring graphic designber, was crossing East 84th Street at Second Avenue at 1:20 a.m. when he apparently tripped over a piece of trash and fell into the path of an oncoming Sanitation truck, police said.

The driver of the truck remained on the scene and police do not suspect any criminality.
