JFK Airport’s Terminal 5 was evacuated Wednesday when a suspicious bag left unattended prompted a security scare in the wake of the airport bombing in Turkey, officials said.
Travelers were ordered to leave the building, which serves as a hub for Jet Blue, after a Department of Homeland Security dog indicated around 8:30 a.m. that the package might be suspicious.
After investigating the bag, it was deemed harmless and people were allowed to re-enter the terminal.
Security at the airport has been high since the terrorist attack Tuesday at Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport, where 41 people were killed and more than 200 were injured.
